Electro Sonic Celebrates 50 Years - A Message from our Principals

It’s hard to believe that 50 years have passed since Electro Sonic came into being back in September of 1952.

From opening day, my Father, who was affectionately known in the industry as “I.R.”, said, “It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work”, and this is exactly what happened.

His simple business philosophies to carry a large inventory, give good pricing, and above all, customer service, remains the backbone of our business today.

From a humble beginning at 543 Yonge Street, followed by two building extensions, and then the big move to our present location in 1974, the company has grown in size and stature beyond our wildest imagination. Who could have foreseen that our first year’s total sales are now exceeded every business day?

Such phenomenal growth has been accomplished because of our dedicated staff, a loyal customer base, and simple sales policies.

Now into its third generation as a family-owned business, I.R.’s legacy continues to live on.

Joel Rosenthal You hold in your hands not just the new Electro Sonic catalogue, but a snapshot of a business that has been for-tunate to reach a special milestone.

Electro Sonic is now 50 years old.

I sometimes wonder if even in his wildest dreams, my Grandfather could have envisioned the ongoing successes that his company would achieve over these past years. Isadore Rosenthal was a very proud man with simple business philosophies toward service and ethics. As a company we have always strived to be the best at these two credos, and we will continue to do so.

In this age where many electronic component distributors seem to be becoming a thing of the past and more and more mergers occur, we con-tinue to be a privately-owned, family business.

When I have conversations with people, it is with great pride that I say that I have worked at Electro Sonic (which I still refer to as “The Store”) for 17 of our 50 years, and in doing so, represent the 3rd generation of my family.

Throughout these past years, we have been extremely lucky to have worked with a great number of wonderful employees and suppliers, who have been loyal and generous with their time in helping us attain our goals. They deserve a large Thank You.

As well, we have been fortunate and honoured to work with all of our customers. You have been the driving force that has allowed us to reach this special year, and for that, I am eternally grateful. Thank You.

Looking to the future, I can promise you that we will continue to strive to be the very best distributor in our industry. As well, we will continue to help each of our customers so that they may attain their aspirations and goals. These last two sentences are easy to say, yet they have been at the very core of what we attempt to do on a daily basis. They have been very challenging goals for the past 50 years, and I look forward to continuing this challenge for the next 50 years, and into a 4th generation.
