Position: Credit Manager
Location: Toronto, Ontario

We have been a leading Canadian electronic distributor for over 50 years. We are looking for a Credit Manager for our Credit Department. This position is located in our northeast Toronto office and reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The company offers a comprehensive health benefits package and a pension plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for managing and developing a team of 4 collectors, handling their performance appraisals and hiring new staff when necessary;
  
• Developing policies and procedures relating to credit and collection and implementing those policies;
  
• Assessing, processing and investigating the credit risks of new and existing customers and in order to determine appropriate credit limits and whether or not to grant credit;
  
• Ensure collection arrangements on overdue balances is properly managed and negotiate payment terms on overdue accounts;
  
• Liaising with outside collection agencies to process information submitted by collectors;
  
• Prepares bad debt reports for weekly and monthly reviews;
  
• Advises other departments as required whenever there is a change in the credit status of accounts;
  
• Set and manage targets for bad debt collection;
  
• Keep up to date with current knowledge of credit and collection legislation and practices.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• University degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline, an FCI designation or on the path of obtaining it;
  
• Five years experience with credit and collections in a B2B environment, preferably in a management capacity;
  
• Fluency in both English and French would be highly desirable;
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  
• Computer literate. Familiarity with a mainframe environment would be an asset.
