Murata
Completes the Acquisition of Power Electronics Division
of C&D Technologies
Murata
Manufacturing Co., Ltd has completed the acquisition
of the C&D Technologies' Power Electronics Division
(PED).
As
we stated in our June 22 announcement of C&D's agreement
to sell PED, this will have no impact on our customers’
continuity of supply or any existing open orders. All
currently active purchase orders and invoices are still
valid, and do not need to be changed in any way. Your
current contacts within the Power Electronics Division
have not changed.
The
Power Electronics Division will begin to operate under
the name 'Murata Power Solutions'. They will work with
all customers and channel partners to ensure a smooth
transition to our new name.
Dr.
William Bachrach, current General Manager of PED, who
will take on the role of President of Murata Power Solutions
commented, “We are excited to be joining the Murata
family of companies. Ultimately our customers will benefit
from a much wider range of products and solutions available
through our existing sales channels. Our business will
benefit from improved competitiveness as we leverage
the combined procurement, manufacturing, and engineering
scale of Murata’s global power business. I am confident
that customers worldwide will find the overall Murata
Power business to be an unbeatable combination.”
According
to figures published by Microtek, the combined revenues
of PED and Murata’s power business will make Murata
Power Solutions #1 in DC/DC products, and #5 worldwide
in overall power.
