DESCRIPTION

The SMBJ51A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor diode designed for surge and ESD protection in compact surface-mount applications. It features a working peak reverse voltage of 51 V with a minimum breakdown voltage of 56.7 V and maximum of 62.7 V, providing reliable overvoltage clamping. The device delivers a peak pulse power dissipation of 600 watts (1 ms pulse) and a steady-state power dissipation of 5.0 watts at 75°C, with a peak forward surge current rating of 100 amps. Operating across a temperature range of -55°C to +150°C, the SMBJ51A is housed in the compact DO-214AA (SMB) surface-mount package and conforms to JEDEC standards. This device is ideal for protecting sensitive electronics in portable communications, computing, and video equipment against transient voltage events including ESD (IEC 61000-4-2), electrical fast transients (IEC 61000-4-4), and surge conditions (IEC 61000-4-5).
