DESCRIPTION

The GGXAC1F480 is an AC contact arc suppressor designed to protect the contact points of relays and contactors in AC power applications, extending their operational life and improving overall performance. It is engineered to suppress contact arcing from 110Vac to 277Vac, and up to 480Vac when installed with an additional in-line fuse, with a maximum absolute current rating of 175A (rms) and a clamping voltage of 820V typical at 1mA. The device connects across contact terminals using only two non-polarized wires (W1/W2) and operates effectively under mixed load conditions including general, resistive, inductive, motor, capacitive, tungsten, ballast, and pilot duty loads. With an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, arc suppression duration of ½ AC power cycle maximum, and MTBF of 80,000 hours per MIL-HDBK-217F, the GGXAC1F480 provides reliable protection for industrial control equipment in HVAC, refrigeration, and automation applications while reducing maintenance costs and EMI by approximately 30dB over the 30MHz to 1GHz range.
