DESCRIPTION

SMCJ5.0A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor diode designed for surge and ESD protection in portable communications, computing, and video equipment. The device features a working peak reverse voltage of 5.0 V, a breakdown voltage of 6.40 V, and a maximum peak pulse power dissipation of 1500 watts at 1 ms pulse width. It operates over a temperature range of -55°C to +150°C and delivers a peak forward surge current of 200 A (8.3 ms single half-sine wave). The SMCJ5.0A is housed in a compact SMC/DO-214AB surface mount package and is RoHS compliant, making it ideal for protecting sensitive circuits against transient overvoltage events in accordance with IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD), IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT), and IEC 61000-4-5 (Surge) standards.
