DESCRIPTION

The MCP23S08T-E/ML is an 8-bit, general-purpose, parallel I/O expander for SPI bus applications. It features a high-speed SPI interface supporting clock frequencies up to 10 MHz. The device provides an 8-bit remote bidirectional I/O port, with pins defaulting to inputs, and includes two hardware address pins allowing up to four devices to share the same chip-select line. Key features include a configurable interrupt output, an external reset input, and a low standby current of 1 µA. This expander is ideal for applications requiring additional digital I/O for microcontrollers in systems like industrial controls, portable electronics, and automation.
