DESCRIPTION

The MCP23S18T-E/SO is a 16-bit general-purpose parallel I/O expander designed for SPI applications. It provides 16 bidirectional I/O pins with 5.5V tolerant open-drain outputs, each capable of sinking up to 25 mA, with a total device capacity of 400 mA. The device communicates via a high-speed SPI interface that supports clock speeds up to 10 MHz and operates over a wide voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V. It features configurable interrupt sources, an external reset input, and a low standby current of 1 µA. This I/O expander is ideal for adding more GPIO capabilities to microcontrollers in various embedded systems.
