DESCRIPTION
The MCP79512-I/MS is a battery-backed Real-Time Clock/Calendar (RTCC) that tracks time and includes user memory accessible via an SPI interface. It provides 64 bytes of battery-backed SRAM, 1 Kbit of EEPROM, and comes preprogrammed with a unique EUI-64™ MAC address. The device operates over a wide voltage range of 1.8V to 3.6V and features low timekeeping current, typically 1.2 µA at 3.0V. Key timekeeping functions include dual programmable alarms, a power-fail timestamp, and on-chip digital trimming with a range of ±259 ppm. The automatic switchover to a backup supply ensures timekeeping and SRAM data retention during power loss, making it suitable for applications requiring reliable time logging, network device identification, and low-power operation.
