DESCRIPTION
The OP298A is a gallium aluminum arsenide infrared light-emitting diode designed for general purpose sensing applications. It features a peak emission wavelength of 890 nm, which is spectrally matched to silicon phototransistors, and provides a focused emission angle of 25 degrees. This device is housed in an IR-transmissive TO-18 or TO-46 package and delivers a minimum apertured radiant incidence of 3.0 mW/cm² at a forward current of 100 mA. With a maximum continuous forward current of 100 mA and a peak forward current of 2.0 A, it is suitable for various industrial uses. Common applications include non-contact reflective object sensing, assembly line automation, machine safety, and door sensors.
