DESCRIPTION

608668-2 is a socket positioner designed for use with AMP Precision Pin and Socket Contacts, specifically for Size 8 power contacts. This positioner is used in conjunction with crimping tool 608668-1 to crimp socket contacts onto wire sizes 18-16 AWG (0.8-1.4 mm²). The positioner works with standard Size 8 power contacts that feature a contact body made of copper alloy with phosphor bronze retention clips, finished with gold over nickel plating. The socket contact accommodates a 0.094 inch diameter pin and is rated for a test current of 50 amperes in free air. This tooling component is essential for proper contact crimping in applications requiring reliable power connections in AMP Multimate Connectors and related connector systems.
