DESCRIPTION
The 9538-CHR-100 is a Computer EIA-RS-232 cable designed for serial data communication applications. It features 8 conductors of 24 AWG stranded tinned copper (7×32 stranding) with semi-rigid PVC insulation (0.011 in nominal wall thickness) and an overall Beldfoil® shield providing 100% coverage with a 24 AWG tinned copper drain wire. The cable has a PVC jacket with a nominal outer diameter of 0.224 in and wall thickness of 0.032 in, rated for 300 V RMS at 80°C (UL AWM Style 2464). Electrical characteristics include a nominal conductor DC resistance of 25 Ohm/1000 ft, conductor-to-conductor capacitance of 33 pF/ft, and a maximum recommended current of 1.75 A per conductor at 25°C. The cable operates reliably over a temperature range of -30°C to +80°C and is suitable for indoor applications, making it ideal for computer peripheral connections, industrial control systems, and data acquisition equipment requiring robust shielded serial communication.
