DESCRIPTION

17E-1728-2 is a plated plastic backshell designed for D-Subminiature connectors with shell size D, supporting 50 standard contacts or 78 high-density contacts. The housing is constructed from ABS polymer with nickel over copper plating, and features a PVC grommet (UL 94 VO rated) for cable strain relief. Key dimensions include 2.645 inches (67.18 mm) length (A), 1.855 inches (47.12 mm) width (B), and accommodates cable diameters ranging from 0.350 inches (8.89 mm) to 0.650 inches (16.51 mm). The backshell provides EMI/RFI protection through rubber grommet compression that forces the cable's shielding against the inside of the cable exit area. This accessory is appropriate for cable assemblies requiring compliance to FCC 20780 and is RoHS compliant.
