SMBJ5.0A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor diode designed for surge and ESD protection in portable communications, computing, and video equipment. The device is housed in a compact DO-214AA (SMB) surface mount package and features a working peak reverse voltage of 5.0 V with a minimum peak pulse power dissipation of 600 watts at 1 ms pulse width. It exhibits fast response times of less than 1.0 picosecond and operates across a temperature range of -55°C to +150°C, with a steady-state power dissipation of 5.0 watts at 75°C. The SMBJ5.0A is ideal for protecting sensitive electronics against transient overvoltage events per IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD), IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT), and IEC 61000-4-5 (Surge) standards, making it essential for reliable circuit protection in modern portable devices.
