DESCRIPTION
The 5KP36CA is a bidirectional transient voltage suppressor diode designed for overvoltage protection in automotive and industrial applications. It features a stand-off voltage of 36 V, a breakdown voltage of 40.0 V at 5 mA, and a maximum clamping voltage of 53.3 V at 5 mA, with a maximum reverse current of 2 µA. The device is rated for a peak pulse power dissipation of 5000 W (10/1000 µs waveform) and steady-state power dissipation of 8 W at 50 °C, with a maximum forward voltage of 3.5 V at 100 A. Operating over a junction temperature range of -50 °C to +175 °C, the 5KP36CA provides very fast response time and is housed in a compact package (Ø 8 × 7.5 mm) smaller than industry standard. It is commonly used for load-dump protection in automotive supply systems, free-wheeling diode applications, and general overvoltage clamping in commercial and industrial grade systems.
