DESCRIPTION
The 1170-21-15A is a compact single-pole thermal automotive circuit breaker designed for extra low voltage wiring systems on vehicles and marine craft. It features a push-to-reset, tease-free, trip-free snap action mechanism with a separate colour-coded manual release (blue actuator for 15 A rating), and is fitted with blade terminals for plug-in mounting to automotive fuse blocks with retaining clips. The design incorporates higher interrupting capacity (400 A for 3–15 A ratings) and operates at a DC voltage rating of 28 V with a typical voltage drop of less than 150 mV. It is rated for 6,000 operations at rated current and maintains performance across an ambient temperature range of -30°C to +60°C, with typical life of 3,000 operations at 2× rated current. This circuit breaker combines full-feature protection with low cost of ownership and is compliant with Type III SAE J 553 standards, making it ideal for reliable overcurrent protection in automotive and marine electrical systems.
