DESCRIPTION

The 60A18-8-060C is an optical encoder with integrated pushbutton and joystick functionality combined in one shaft assembly, designed for driver control interfaces and positioning systems. It features 8 discrete joystick contacts in 8 possible directions with an 18° angle of throw, standard 2-bit quadrature output code, and operates at 5.00 ± 0.25 Vdc with a maximum supply current of 20 mA. The encoder provides open collector phototransistor outputs with external pull-up resistors required, logic high output of no less than 3.5 Vdc and low output of no greater than 1.0 Vdc, and achieves 1 million rotational cycles of mechanical life. The joystick offers 500,000 actuations per direction with an 8° ± 2° angle of throw in all directions, while the integrated pushbutton supports 1 million actuations with contact bounce less than 4 ms make and 10 ms break. This integrated solution is ideal for global positioning systems, medical equipment control, robotics, and commercial appliances where compact multi-function control is required.
