DESCRIPTION
The 980-2000-345 is a die-cast zinc metal backshell designed for 9-position D-subminiature connectors with straight exit configuration and EMI shielding capabilities. It features a clear zinc finish on both the backshell and steel hardware, providing robust electromagnetic interference reduction with -50 dB attenuation at 1000 MHz. The backshell kit includes a front shell, rear shell, mounting hardware (2 screws, 2 hex nuts, 2 mounting screws), end brackets, and compression inserts made of PVC that accommodate cable diameters from 4.83 mm to 8.89 mm. Operating across a temperature range of -20°C to 80°C, this backshell improves conformance to FCC DOC #20780 shielding requirements without requiring crimp ferrule tooling. It is commonly used in applications requiring enhanced EMI/RFI protection in rugged industrial and aerospace environments where reliable signal integrity is essential.
