DESCRIPTION

1-601967-5 is a turret component designed for use with the AMP hand tool (Part No. 601967-1) to crimp high-current power contacts onto wire. This turret is specifically configured for socket contact assembly in the High Current Size 16 contact system, which features a 23 amp capability with a 30° T-Rise in free-air testing. The socket contact body is constructed from copper alloy with a silver finish, while the Louvertac band is beryllium copper with gold plating, and the retention spring is stainless steel. The turret accommodates wire sizes from 18-16 AWG (0.8-1.4 mm²) and 14 AWG (2 mm²), making it suitable for retrofitting into existing AMP connector housings such as CPC (Circular Plastic Connector), CMC (Circular Metal Connector), and other series. This tool is essential for field repair and assembly operations requiring reliable high-current connections in commercial signal and power applications.
