DESCRIPTION
788085-4 is a precision-formed loose piece socket contact designed for signal applications in AMP Size 16 connectors with snap-in termination. The contact features a brass body with stainless steel retention spring and is available with gold/nickel or bright tin-lead finish. It accommodates wire sizes from 30 to 28 AWG (0.05–0.09 mm²) with insulation diameters of 0.015–0.030 inches (0.38–0.76 mm), and is rated for a test current of 13 amperes in single contact free-air conditions. The contact body measures 0.113 inches maximum diameter with a 0.530±0.010 inch overall length, and features a brass ferrule with nickel flash for reliable mating. This contact is commonly used in precision connector applications requiring signal transmission with secure snap-in retention and is compatible with various AMP connector types including Metrimate and M Series connectors.
